The name “Dinner on the Grounds” comes from the time when, following church services, cloths were spread under the trees and families ate on the church grounds.  Families gathered all day and shared their food with friends and other members of the community.

Recipes provided in this book, over 600 in total, come from these families and have been handed down from generation to generation. Many feature products from the Old Mill of Guilford just down the road from the Ai Church a site, which in the past, hosted many of these dinners.
